Training for life after school is a critical component of the school program for senior students. The aim of these programs is for students to develop sound work practices and appropriate social behaviours necessary to be a member of the working community.
In school programs include:
- gardening
- recycling
- collecting the mail
- shredding
- trading group (school canteen)
- car wash
- school laundry
- internal school jobs
- community-based work experience.
Some of our students attend a work experience program at the Coles Regional Distribution Centre. Their jobs include sorting, restocking shelves at the canteen, shredding, labelling, filing, and cleaning. After work, the students use the workplace canteen to order and eat their lunch.
Some students who attend TAFE course are required to do mandatory work placement in the community.
Students also attend individual work experience placements in Years 11 and 12. Placements have been at Coles Supermarket, The Workers Club, and El Washo Laundromat.
