Wellbeing

At our school, student well-being and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

How we support student wellbeing

Supporting every student’s mental, emotional, social, and physical well-being is an essential part of daily life at The Crescent School. We use a range of evidence-based programs and approaches to create a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment for all students. Our wellbeing practices are guided by the Zones of Regulation, CPI Safety Intervention, Trauma-Informed Practice (NSW Department of Education), and the Berry Street Education Model.

What this looks like at our school
  • teachers who make students feel welcome and included
  • access to school counsellors, psychologists, and specialist staff
  • programs that build health, social skills, attendance, and positive behaviour
  • support for students who are new or transitioning between year levels
  • clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
  • staff who know each child and work closely with families
  • individual health care plans where needed
  • open communication about wellbeing and support

These frameworks help students develop emotional awareness, self-regulation, and strong relationships, empowering them to feel calm, connected, and ready to learn.

The Crescent School's Wellbeing Strategy

Our school is committed to fostering a positive and supportive environment through our wellbeing strategy, built around three key expectations: Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe.

School-Wide Matrix

Our school-wide Matrix is built around three key expectations that guide everything we do:

Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe.

High 5's

High 5s are given by staff to recognise students who are Be Ready, Be Respectful, and Be Safe.

They celebrate positive choices, effort, and kindness, helping build a happy and encouraging school community.

Positive Postcards

Each week, one student from every class receives a Positive Postcard for showing our school expectations: Be Ready, Be Respectful, and Be Safe.

These are presented at assembly to celebrate their achievements and positive behaviour.
